Introduction

Utility Mapping Workshop (UMW) was a workshop dealing with detection and mapping of underground utility A to Z among collaboration from Government, Agency, Academy and Industry such as Local Government Department (JKT), Public Works Department (JKR), Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and RDG Supply Sdn. Bhd.

The workshop comprehensively covered all the aspects related to conducting successful underground utility detection and mapping project and local government requirement standard and guideline of underground utility survey.

67 professional from whole country attend Underground Utility Workshop 2015, among them were also a number of Professors and Researchers representative from the Universities, JKR, PEJUTA, SEJUTA, LSBS,PAAB, LAP,PBAPP,PAIP,TNB, GAS MALAYSIA and LS.

First day, 8 modules were presented by each speaker from local authority, agency and suppliers industries such as JKT, JUPEM,INSTUN, JKR, GAS MALAYSIA,TNB,PEJUTA and INSTEG.

Second day all participants received outdoor hands on practical training using Electromagnetic Locator (EML), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) & Orientation Measurement Unit (OMU). In order to produce a utility map, the entire participants had exposed and learned about data processing and analysis during the in-door underground utility map/drawing production session with those data collected during practical session.

Indoor explaination of important hints to produce a good accuracy and usable underground utility map

On-site outdoor hands on practical using various technologies to survey and detect of the position and reference buried depth for underground utilities (buried utilties)

Explaination about the right approach, benefit as well as limitation using GPR for Undeground Utilitiy Survey and Detection.

Demo on enhancing detection with EML for non-metallic, undergroud utility survey and detection. Flexi Rod with Sonde used to allow survey & detection of non-metallic pipeline and duct provide there is an access point

Explain and demo some of the unique features that could be helpful to provide a good accuracy and usable result.
